Area Calculator

Welcome to the Area Calculator! here I will show you how to calculate the area for these shapes:

  1. Square
  2. Rectangle
  3. Triangle
  4. Circle

First up is the square.

    \[   A = l\times\l = l^2\]

And this is the formula on how to calculate the area of square.

Let’s look at an example. Let’s say l is 5cm. This is how we calculate the area of the square.

    \[   A = 5cm\times\ 5cm = 25cm^2\]

Now it’s time for the rectangle.

    \[   A = h\times\ w = hw \]

So this is how we calculate the area of a rectangle. Now, let’s look at an example. h will be 4 cm, and w will be 7cm.

    \[   A = 4cm\times\ 7cm = 28cm^2 \]

It’s the triangle next.

basically, this triangle is half of a square. So, after making out the area of the square we have to multiply it by half.

    \[ A = h\times\ w\times\ \frac{1}{2} \]

This is how we calculate this triangle. If you still don’t understand, here, I’ll give you an example.

h = 6cm, w = 6cm

    \[ A = 6cm\times\ 6cm\times\ \frac{1}{2} = 18cm^2 \]

Do you get it now? I hope you do! but now here comes the hardest shape to calculate to area..

Circle! This involves \pi, which is about 3.14.

The formula for the circle’s area is as follows–

A = \pi r^2

here is an example:

r = 3cm

A = 3.14 \times$ 3cm^2

That is it for our lesson today! see you on the next lesson: Volume Calculator!
