Snippet 1- “Fragile”

The area splattered with ink, the colour of the void. It all happened so suddenly that I wondered if I followed my instincts and smashed them to guts. I concluded that it was the blood of the puppets.

Deafening silence followed after, and I found myself trailing after it. I didn’t know such an action was possible, yet, anything was possible.

     Because it wasn’t reality.

I jostled awake and nearly shook off all my goosebump-filled skin. It was still dark, but not pitch-black like in my nightmare. My half-eaten school lunch has been kicked off my bed.

Throwing the remains in the trash, I unintentionally catch a glimpse of the clock. It was one minute past midnight. I have been sleeping fewer and fewer hours because I’ve started to study Science overtime. Naturally, I had no idea why I did horribly.

     Crack!

An ear-splitting sound rang through my ears — the unmistakable shatter of glass. The energy radiated fast like lightning down my throat, bolted into my body and squeezed my breaking heart.

I wasted in no time and sprinted through the hallways as the shattering continued.
